Accept a website ownership transfer

When another website owner transfers ownership to you, Art Schema sends you an ownership transfer invitation by email.

Accepting the invitation makes you the new owner of the website. Until you accept the transfer, the current owner continues to own and manage the website.

Before you accept the transfer

Before accepting an ownership transfer, make sure that:

You trust the person transferring ownership.
You recognize the website listed in the invitation.
You are signing in with the correct Art Schema account.
You understand that you will become responsible for managing the website.

Accept the ownership transfer

Open the ownership transfer invitation email.
Select the link provided in the email.
Sign in to your Art Schema account if prompted.
Review the ownership transfer details.
Confirm that you want to accept the transfer.

After you confirm the request, the ownership transfer is completed immediately.

What happens after acceptance?

Once the ownership transfer is completed:

You become the new website owner.
You receive all ownership-specific permissions.
The previous owner no longer has ownership-specific permissions.
The website content, settings, users, and domains remain unchanged.
The website continues to operate normally without interruption.

Do website users change?

No.

Accepting a website ownership transfer does not automatically change website users, user roles, page content, domains, or website settings.

Only the website owner changes.

If you do not want to become the owner

If you do not wish to become responsible for the website, simply do not accept the invitation.

Until the invitation is accepted, the current owner remains responsible for the website.

The current owner may also cancel the ownership transfer before it is accepted.

If the invitation has expired

If the ownership transfer invitation is no longer valid, you will not be able to complete the transfer.

Contact the current website owner and ask them to create a new ownership transfer request.

Only accept ownership transfers that you expect to receive.
Verify that the website name is correct before confirming.
Do not use ownership transfer links received from unknown sources.
Contact the current owner if anything appears unexpected.
